ha! i seriously JUST WATCHED this on marthastewart.com about twenty minutes ago because i was bummed i missed it on tv. now i feel like i need to get my hands on some elastic thread.... wonder where i could get it... sometimes fabric mart surprises me though. we'll see. anyway- very cute project!
hehe, i, like steph, watched this online a few days ago, after seeing it posted on heather ross's blog. hehe. it's actually in her book, too. and steph, let's go find some elastic thread! it seems simple enough to make it teeny tiny for newborns as well as bigger for toddlers and older girls. even for us mamas for the beach.
Try using a pillowcase with cute embellishment on the open end, then ribbons for the shoulders. Pillow case skirts are rad too. I'll have to make some this summer. Let's see who can post it first :)
There are some stores such as Wal-mart that sell already smocked fabric which would make this even easier. I am really excited to try this. you always have such fun crafts.
i saw that already smocked fabric last week and i thought that was a grand idea! did you see the cherry one? i think that one is calling my name. and yeah, liko, let's do it!
